Common questions

Is Journey Scroll on the App Store?

Not yet. Journey Scroll is in its final round of testing on iPhone through Apple’s TestFlight. The public App Store release is coming. Email hello@journeyscroll.com and we will tell you the day it is live.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone with iOS 18 or later. There is no Android or web version today.

Which Bible translations are included?

The King James Version (1769 text, with Strong’s numbers), the Berean Standard Bible and the American Standard Version (1901). All three are public domain and are built into the app, so reading works without an internet connection. Swipe left or right on a verse to switch translation.

Do I need an account?

No. Reading, word study, the atlas, Scripture for Every Season and your private prayer requests all work with no account at all. The only feature that needs sign-in is Groups (sharing prayer with an invitation-only group), which uses Sign in with Apple. The app asks Apple for your name only, and you can edit the display name your group sees.

Where are my saved verses, notes and prayer requests stored?

On your iPhone, in the app’s own database. They are included in your normal iPhone backup. Nothing is uploaded unless you deliberately share a prayer request with a group. You can export your saved verses and notes any time from More → Your data → Export saved verses & notes.

How does a private prayer request stay private?

A request lives only on your phone until you act on it. If you text it to a prayer chain, the app prepares the message in Messages and you tap Send yourself. If you share it with a group, you choose the group, and whether the whole group or only its leaders can see it, before anything is sent.

How do group invitations work?

A group leader creates an invitation and shares it as a link, a QR code or a text. Invitations expire after seven days and can be used up to twenty-five times, and a leader can revoke one at any time. Opening a link never joins you to anything by itself: you see the group’s name and who invited you, then tap Join. If a link has expired, ask the leader for a new one.

How do I leave a group, or report or block someone?

Open the group, then its members list. You can leave a group there. Inside a group you can report content and block a member; blocking hides that person’s posts from you.

How do I delete my Groups account?

Email support@journeyscroll.com from the device you use and we remove your profile and everything you posted to groups, normally within a few days. Groups you lead pass to the longest-standing co-leader or member, and an empty group is deleted. Your saved verses, notes and private prayer requests on the phone are not affected. The app’s More → Groups account → Delete group account control does the same once the server update that completes it is live; in the current build it may not finish, so please use email.

The reader text is too small, or I want a different look.

Tap Aa at the top of the reader. You can change the theme (Follow App, Parchment, Midnight, Classic or Focus Black), serif or sans-serif type, text size, line spacing, verse numbers and Focus Reading. The same options are under More → Bible reader.

Does Journey Scroll track me or show ads?

No analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. The app talks to a server only when you use Groups. See the privacy policy for the full picture.

Where do the photographs and maps come from?

Place photographs come from Wikimedia Commons under open licences, credited on each place page and in the app’s About screen. Map tiles are Apple Maps. Bible texts and study data are public domain or openly licensed; the full list is on the credits page.
